David joined the East Peckham Silver Band as Musical Director at the beginning of 2013 following the retirement of Keith Johnson, who had conducted the band for 50 years.
David is an experienced conductor, chamber musician and teacher. He is currently the Head of Brass at Tonbridge School, founder member and Musical Director of ‘Jubilate Brass’, the resident brass ensemble at Canterbury Cathedral, which performs at major services throughout the year. This includes the recent Enthronement service for the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, which was broadcast worldwide, live on BBC TV.
His varied musical accomplishments include playing Principal Horn for 3 years with the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra, and freelancing with many of the London Orchestras.
As artistic director of “Dynamic Music” for the last 30 years, he has been able to develop a wide range of creative musical activities, including workshops, educational courses, and taking music into schools and the community.
David’s directorship of East Peckham Silver Band combines this commitment with his enthusiasm and ability to enable brass players to play at their best.
Living in East Peckham David has few excuses for being late for practice on a Thursday!
